How this estimate is built
- Bottom-up, trade by trade. The pool's size and shape set the dig, the shell and the finish areas; each trade is priced on its own — design & engineering, permits, excavation, steel, plumbing, electrical, the shotcrete shell, tile & coping, interior finish, decking, equipment, start-up — plus any spa, water features or barrier fence you pick.
- Where the rates come from. Excavation, steel, the shotcrete shell and rock water features use Pool Maven's 2025–26 supplier price lists. Plaster and pebble finishes, tile, decking, equipment, plumbing and electrical use Phoenix-area market estimates.
- Contingency. 5% is added to the direct cost by default (adjustable up to 12% under Business assumptions).
- “Traditional builder” is the same direct cost plus a 35% builder markup by default (adjustable 20–45%). That markup is the builder's overhead and profit — the money an owner-builder keeps.
- “You + Pool Maven” is the direct cost plus the Pool Maven program fee.
- An estimate, not a quote. Your real numbers come from your own subcontractor bids, which depend on your yard, access, plans and engineering.
